American Citizen Services Unit
The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit of the Consular Section provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Sweden.
Services provided include:
- U.S. passport issuance;
- Reporting the birth of a child in Sweden to a U.S. citizen;
- Social security numbers;
- Tax information;
- Voting assistance;
- Notarization of documents;
- Children's issues; and,
- Emergency services for American citizens, etc.

Consul to Gothenburg on March 20th, 2012
Vice Consul Amy J. Reardon will be in Gothenburg on Tuesday March 20th, 2012 to take applications for reports of births, passports, social security numbers, and to notarize documents that will be used in the U.S. Please note that we will not be able to accept applications for immigrant visas. Hours of Operation and Visitor Information
The American Citizen Services Unit is located in the Consular Section of the American Embassy. We are open to the public between 9 and 11AM, Monday through Friday, except for Swedish and American holidays.
Important Notice: The American Citizens Services (ACS) unit at the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm has implemented an online appointment system for all passport, citizenship and notary services. These routine services are by appointment only. In the step-by step instruction for each service you will find a link to our appointment system.
Please note that there are special security regulations in place for all visitors to the Embassy. Before our appointment, please take the time to review these security regulations.
