Sundsvall 9/29/2011
Public Affairs Counselor Chris Dunnett talking with students visiting the Mobile Embassy in Sundsvall.
On the Embassy’s sixth stop on the Road Show on September 29, we visited mid-Sweden and the city of Sundsvall. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. William Stewart and Sundsvalls kommunfullmäktiges ordförande Rodney Engström opened the Mobile Embassy to the sounds of American-Swedish student Lourdes Malinao and Helena Ödmark performing two great American songs.
After the opening, the public was invited to visit the Mobile Embassy and consult with staff from the Consular, Public Diplomacy and Commercial sections on anything from visas and ESTA, to studying in, or importing products from, the United States. After that, a group of invited guests gathered for a round-table free discussion about how Sundsvall and the U.S. Embassy can work together to meet common challenges and learn from each other. Throughout the day, we welcomed people of Sundsvall to the Mobile Embassy to answer questions and talk about U.S. foreign policy and American society.
Our venue vas Kommunhuset in Sundsvall, and provided a great opportunity for the people of Sundsvall the students to get the most out of what the U.S. Embassy has to offer from consular services, advise on studying in the U.S. to business opportunities.
Chargé d’Affairest Stewart, who is a veteran of serving in the Middle East, spoke to students at MidSweden University on the highly topical subject of the Arab Spring and the transitions occurring in the Middle East and North Africa.
