Swedish Driver’s License

Bearers of a Swedish driver’s license may drive in the U.S. for a certain period of time on their valid Swedish driver's license. The exact length depends on the individual state, but it usually ranges from one month up to one year. For information regarding the regulations in a specific state, please visit the website belonging to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in that particular state. You can easily find the website by using a search engine, e.g. Google, and typing in “DMV” and the name of the state. However, when renting a car in the U.S., some rental agencies may insist on seeing an international driver's license, which is available from the Swedish Motorists' Consumer Organization.
